Shirley was a fabulous creative soul, who could turn her hand to literally anything! Amongst many of her different artistic talents, she was a very talented artist, producing beautiful paintings and drawings later on in her life. She particularly loved her art classes at her retirement village, where she flourished, spending many hours at her art desk and easel. She also absolutely adored all her grandchildren and children in general. She was a very kind, loving, patient Mum and Nanny, giving of her time freely to help nurture each and every one of us, as well as others in life.
One of her favourite pastimes was spending many a happy day viewing the latest art exhibition at her favourite place, The Towner Gallery in Eastbourne, completing her viewing with of course, an obligatory cup of tea and a slice of cake on the top balcony, admiring the view across to Eastbourne tennis club. Shirley would also spend many happy hours with her grandchildren, teaching them different creative things such as drawing, painting, knitting, baking and decorating their homemade dolls houses together, much to their delight!
It’s for this reason that we feel, as a family, both the Towner Gallery (Eastbourne) and GOSH (Art Therapy) seem two very fitting charitable causes, combining her love of all things artistic, to help both sick children and the wider community through art therapy projects.
Shirley Reid, our much loved wife, mother, mother-in-law, Nanny and friend, sadly passed away on Saturday, 21st May 2022. The family would prefer not to have flowers and instead would ask you kindly to make a donation to one of our chosen charities, leaving a message in honour of her. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday 15th June at 2pm at The Main Chapel, Eastbourne Crematorium.
In loving memory of Shirley.
Thank you from all her family for your kind donation xxxx
